Dale H. Jackson


Dale H. Jackson, 80, of Springfield, died Saturday morning, March 22, 2008 in Mercy St. John's Center following a brief illness. He was born in Vandalia, Ohio on May 26, 1927 the son of Ralph H. and Elizabeth (Lodge) Jackson.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dale was a 1950 graduate of Wittenberg University. In 1991, he retired as a vice president from Huntington Bank and previously worked for U.S. News and World Report and Homestead Federal Savings & Loan.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brookville Lodge 596 F. & A.M., and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Springfield Symphony. He was a collector of Steinway grand pianos.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, E. Sue (Miller) Jackson; son Harter M. "Buzz" Jackson of Springfield; a brother, Ralph (Florene) Jackson of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Lois Jackson and Nancy Jackson of Brookville; numerous cousins including Jean Lodge of Paris, France and Jane Schroeder of Vandalia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Norman, George and Charles.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
