Allen L. Jones, Sr.


Allen L. Jones, Sr., 57, of Springfield died in his home Sunday, September 14, 2008 following several years of failing health. He was born August 4, 1951 in Springfield the son of Milton B., Jr. and Doris Jean (Rhyan) Jones.

Allen attended South High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He served a two year tour of duty in Viet Nam, then returned to Springfield to work at White Motors (now Cooper Energy Services), retiring after twenty-eight years due to disability.

Allen is survived by his wife of thirty-four years Linda L. (Blancet) Jones; his father, Milton and friend Marty Thompson; one son and daughter-in-law Allen L., Jr. and Natalie Jones, two grandchildren Madison Marie and Allen L. Jones III; three brothers Jerry J. Jones, Richard L. "Dickie" Wallace, Jr. and Dwaine Wallace; three sisters Carrie Jean Sowers, Kelly Richwine and Melissa Kellis; mother-in-law Frances Blancet, all of Springfield; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Banks; stepmother Anesta B. Jones; brother Gary Lee Jones; grandparents Milton B., Sr. and Ethel Jones; father-in-law Al Blancet; brother-in-law Gary Allen Blancet; sister-in-law Mitzi K. Jones and stepfather Richard L. "Dink" Wallace, Sr..

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
