William Hersel Hall


William Hersel Hall, 70, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday morning, August 26, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus.

He was born in Salyersvillle, Kentucky on January 1, 1938 the son of Ellis Cooper and Mary Jane (Williams) Hall.

Hersel worked at the Elliott Company for 30 years and retired from Dresser Industries when his health began to fail.

He loved to play the guitar and traveled to different churches and revivals with Wesley Barnett and the Hall Brothers and the Pack Duet. He loved to play cards, especially poker, and watching sports, but his favorite sport was teasing his grandkids.

Hersel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mabel L. (Shepherd) Hall; eight children, Patricia (Rodger) Daniels, Glenda (Jeff) Davis, Janice Foster (Mike Adkins) Cheryl (Rick) Jennings, Sharon (Tim) Shinkle, Wesley (Lori) Hall, David (Carolyn) Hall, and Jeffrey (Anita) Hall, all of Springfield; seventeen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Verlillie Rice of Oil Springs, Kentucky and Dorothy Hinton of West Liberty, Kentucky; a brother, Edgar Hall of San Antonio, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen Fay Hall; three sisters, Ollie Sloan, Lola Howard, and Josephine Myers; and five brothers, John, Virgil, Junior, Dover, and Eddie.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Cedarville.
