Verne L. Harmison, Sr.


Verne L. Harmison, Sr., 100, a resident of Woodstock for the past seven years, and formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Spring Meadows Care Center.

He was born March 15, 1908 in Springfield the son of Charles V. and Cora (Peck) Harmison and served in the Army during WWII. He retired from Lawson's Milk Company and then worked for Hoppes Manufacturing. He was a member of New Life Church in Cable, Ohio.

Mr. Harmison was a great, great, great nephew of frontiersman Daniel Boone and is survived by one son Verne L. (Vicki) Harmison, Jr.; one daughter Anna M. (Ronald) Kilgore, both of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Mae Harmison; son Charles Theodore Harmison and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 PM. in Rose Hill Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. The family will receive visitors for 30 minutes prior to the service. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
