Sherman Michael Houston


Sherman Michael "Mike" Houston, 59, of Chillicothe and formerly of Springfield, died unexpectedly Monday, September 15, 2008.

He was born in Springfield on March 2, 1949 the son of Sherman and Dorothy (Walls) Houston Jr.

Mike was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He worked for many years at Houston Machine Products Inc. and was a member of the board of directors of Lighthouse of Chillicothe.

Survivors in addition to his father of New Carlisle include two sons, Anthony Houston of Chillicothe and Eric VanHoose of Springfield; a daughter, Angie Newman of Hilliard; two sisters, Sandra K. (Tom) White of Springfield and Deborah Houston of New Carlisle; three brothers, Gregory A. (Judy) Houston of Delaware, Ohio, Dwight D. (Debbie) Houston of Waverly, Tennessee, and Steven D. (Kerry) Houston of Springboro; four grandchildren, Michaela Ann and Camden Levi Houston, Heather Newman, and Jordan Lookabaugh; many nieces and nephews; and many friends in Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, R. Bryan and John E. Houston.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Mike's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Martin of Maiden Lane Church of God officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston.
