Sarah Jane Hoffer


Sarah Jane Hoffer, 77, of Lakeview, Ohio died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 13, 1931 in Cedarville, Ohio the daughter of Alva and Agnes (Pope) Chaplin.

She lived in Springfield most of her life and was a member of the Union Club. Following the death of her husband Darryl "Clyde" Hoffer in 1978, Jane moved to Indian Lake where she was a member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, AmVets and VFW.

She is survived by her longtime companion Ralph Smith of Lakeview; four sons Robert and Steven Hoffer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Thomas (Sharon Nuss) Hoffer of Springfield, and David Hoffer of Tranquility, Ohio; one brother Earl Chaplin of Cedarville; one sister Audrey Powers of Springfield; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday from 12 Noon-1 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home. Private entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
