Rose Houck
Rose Houck (Major, Ret. U.S. Army), 96, of London, died Tuesday January 1, 2008, in the Madison House. She was born June 22, 1911 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel M. and Ina May (Rockwell) Houck.
Rose was a graduate of Ohio State University. Rose was a Registered Nurse and taught surgical nursing. She also received her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology and was a Speech Pathologist for fifteen years. She served her country with the United States Army during World War II and served tours in Europe, Pacific, Japan and Italy. She retired as a Major after twenty years. Survivors include her sister Nancy Lois Houck of Springfield; niece, Rose Mary Spradley of Petersburg, Virginia; three nephews, Raymond Keller of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Samuel Keller of Wisconsin and David Houck of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Pauline Ward and Leah Keller; three brothers, Edwin, Ernest and Roger Houck; nephew Ernest Carl Houck.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday January 5, 2008 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Springfield. Graveside services will follow at 12 p.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery, with Rev. Gordon E. Johnson, officiating.
