Paul Morgan Holmes

Paul Morgan Holmes, 89 of Springfield died September 27, 2008 at Community's Hearth and Home.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV on June 23, 1919 to Claudia (Morgan) and Allen T. Holmes. At age 12, the family moved to Springfield, Ohio where Paul graduated from Springfield High School in 1938. He served as a Radioman Second class in the United States Navy until his discharge in 1945. A graduate of Wittenberg University (1949), Paul married Kathleen Ehman and began his career with Clark County Landmark. Soon his responsibilities expanded to include much of the Southeastern Ohio with the firm, Snyder and Associates. He also attended the University of Dayton and was a survivor of the 1974 Xenia tornado.

His beloved Kathleen passed away in 1978, but in 1980, Paul met and married Doris Schellenger Roberts. Paul was a life long Episcopalian, serving as an acolyte both at Heavenly Rest and Christ Episcopal Church. His willingness to serve God and his church was proven by 17 years as the church treasurer for Christ Church and many more years as an usher, greeter, and supporter of many ministries such as the Rainbow Table and the Interfaith Hospitality Network.

He is survived by his wife Doris: Step children James A. (Pam) Roberts of Nashville, TN, Thomas H. (Julie) Roberts of North Augusta, SC and Constance Roberts Lehman of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren Amie (Daniel) Potter, Matthew (Elizabeth) Roberts, Justin James Lehman, Katherine Nicole Lehman, John Stephenson and Audra Stephenson; Great grandchildren, Mason and Maddox Potter and his beloved niece Louise Agardy.

Viewing will be from 10-12 noon, Tuesday September 30, 2008 at Christ Church Parish hall, 402 E. High Street Springfield. Services will follow at noon with Rev. Charlotte Reed officiating. Interment will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following at the Holmes residence.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Christ Church Memorial Fund. Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home is handling the final arrangements.
