Paul Highmiller


Paul "David" Highmiller, 70, of Springfield, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in his residence. He was born August 13, 1938 in Springfield, OH to Paul and Louise (Deam) Highmiller.

David began his career as credit sales manager at the Edward Wren Store from 1963 to 1969, at which time he took that same position with Pomeroy's Department Store in Harrisburg, PA, from there he was promoted to credit analyst for Allied Stores Corp. His final position was with Uhlman's Department Store as vice president until his retirement.

David was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, attended Wittenberg University, received certification as a certified consumer credit executive from the Society of Certified Consumer Credit Executives and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lucy C. (Cocca); 2 children and spouses, Michael D. and Laurieann Highmiller, South Charleston, OH and Mary Beth and Dennis DeWitt, Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Dominic, Audrey, Lane and Piper; 2 sisters, Carol Jean Newell, Springfield and Joann Petonke, Harrisonburg, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Dick Donahue.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Powell officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Community Mercy Hospice or Springfield Regional Cancer Center.
