Melvin M. Helsel


Melvin M. Helsel, 79, of South Vienna, died Saturday June 30, 2007 in Fairborn.

He was born June 24,1928 in Marion Twp., Ohio. He served his country with the United States Army. He was a graduate of Ohio State University. Mel retired from the Department of Agriculture where he served as District Soil and Water Conservation Agent. He was a member of the Fielding Lodge 192 Free and Accepted Masons in South Charleston.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Doreen Helsel of North Lauderdale, Florida; sister, Wanda McDonald of Canal Winchester, Ohio; brother, Paul Helsel of Indiantown, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lehman and Ruth (Mills) Helsel; wife Jeannine Helsel and son, Dean Helsel.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Private services will be held for the family. Burial will be in South Vienna Cemetery.
