Mark Harris


Mark Harris, 52, of Springfield, passed Sunday March 2, 2008 in his residence next to his loving wife Georgy and dear friend Carlene by his side after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

He was born July 9, 1955 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Paul and Shirley (Dubbs) Harris.

He graduated from Shawnee High School and JVS in 1974 and went to work as a machinist for Cooper Energy Services for more than twenty-six years and most recently was employed by Electric Eel.

Survivors include his loving wife Georganna "Georgy" (Whalen) Harris; mother Shirley Cox; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Jr. and Susie Harris and Michael Harris; two brothers and sister-in-law, Steve and Gayle Harris; Tim Harris all of Springfield; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and David Kelly of South Vienna; mother-in-law, Betty L. Whalen of Springfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Whalen and fiancé Betty of Springfield, Donnie and Barb Whalen of Venice, Florida; Kathy and Greg Day of Kettering, Larry and Debbie Whalen of Springfield; nieces, Paula Harris and Hillary Kelly of South Vienna, Lindsey Martinsen and her husband Darwin and Katie Day of Kettering; and a uncle and aunt, Dean and Cora Lou Dubbs of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his father; sister-in-law Teresa Raponi and father-in-law George Whalen.

Mark will be truly missed by his "four legged kids" cats: Murphy, Sydney, and Abby.

The family would like to express their undying love and appreciation to Mom (Betty Whalen), brother-in-law, (Bill Whalen) for all their help and support throughout Mark and Georgy's Marriage and Mark's illness. To Carlene Crist and family; Carlene totally gave herself to devote her time, support, and love to help Mark and Georgy. To the whole Mick Family at Mick's Flowers and Gifts. Many thanks to Mark's family, dear friends: Steve and Jennifer Smith, Doug Clay, Patti, Ken and A.J. Evans, Amy Aman, Lynda Snyder, Debbie Stoll, Don Hinshaw, The Bridge Community Church in Springfield, and the Stillwater 7th Day Adventist Church in Dayton.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., with Pastor Norman Hayes, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
