Lula Mae Hunter
Lula Mae Hunter, 78, of Piqua and formerly of Urbana, died Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2008 in Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
She was born in Mechanicsburg, Ohio on October 11, 1930 the daughter of William and Mae (Tyree) Watkinson.
She was a member of the Maiden Lane Church of God where she enjoyed singing, cooking and serving meals. Lula Mae loved quilting, crafts and gardening. A resident of Garbry Ridge, she enjoyed her many friends, playing Bingo, and their many craft activities.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Smith of Vandalia; five sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Gail Adams of Beavercreek, Ron and Kay Adams of Grand Prairie, Texas; David Hunter of Christiansburg, Dale Hunter of Livingston, Texas, and Dean and Medonia Hunter of Springfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Clyde Welch of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis M. Hunter in 2005; two sisters, Mary Watkinson and Viola Kees; and two brothers, Roy and Melvin Watkinson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Fiorini officiating.
Burial will be in Somerford Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the City of Piqua Fire and E.M.S. or the American Diabetes Association.
