Kathy A. Hirst

Kathy A. "KT" Hirst, 58, of Springfield, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was born in Springfield on July 6, 1950 the daughter of Norman M. and Mary K. (Pope) Hirst.

Kathy, better known as KT to her friends and co-workers, went to work at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton 20 years ago. Prior to that, she worked at Community Hospital in Springfield. KT was a dedicated, experienced nurse and a strong patient advocate. She had a generous heart and gave freely of herself to others. She always came flying into work with gusto and was greeted with hugs and kisses all around. She loved her ICU family and they loved her. The love they had for KT was evident at the onset and duration of her brief and devastating illness. Nurses from all over the tri-state area came to her aid without any hesitation for whatever aspect of her care was needed. They will miss seeing her smiling face at work and will continue to miss her always.
