Irene Hale


Irene Hale, 94, of Springfield died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Villa of Springfield following a brief illness.

She was born July 17, 1913 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of Earl and Grace (Williams) Slavens.

Mrs. Hale was the Manager of the restaurant at McCrory's for many years, worked at Sheehan's and retired from Town and Country as a Workshop Supervisor. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and enjoyed boating and camping along the Ohio River and in Kentucky.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law Ronald and Mary Lou Hale of Springfield, Robert and Barbara Hale of Cape Coral, Florida and Fred Hale of Springfield; one sister Louise Merritt of Washington Court House; eight grandchildren Steve, Tom, Glenn, Bob, Gail, Melinda, Doug and Tiffany; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer L. "Roy" Hale in 2001; and a brother Harold "Bud" Slavens.

Friends may call Monday from 10-11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their "Thanks" to the Staff at Villa of Springfield, especially Melissa Young, for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Hale during her final days, and requests that memorial contributions be made to the Activities Fund at Villa of Springfield, 701 Villa Road, Springfield, Ohio 45503.
