George A. Hammann


George A. "Buddy O" Hammann, age 95 passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Eaglewood Care Center. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII.

George was employed by Crowell Collier until their closing. He then retired from the United States Post Office in 1975. George has been a Sunday school superintendent for the Rockway Lutheran Church for 33 years.

George had a love for the railroad for many years which led him to his hobby as an avid model railroader. George is a member of the St. Andrew Masonic Lodge #619, Shawnee Chapter 237, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, High 12 Club #429, Palestine Commandary #33, Grand Council Royal Select-Masonic Springfield Council#17, and the 3 Rivers Forest #174 TCI.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, of 61 years, Pearl, daughter Sandra Moore, sisters Martha Asper and Caroline Hoffman.

George is survived by his children; Rhonda (Bert) Cassel of Springfield, and George D. (Debbie) Hammann of Dayton, son-in-law Don Moore, of Springfield, grandchildren; Randy (Leslie) Sine, Christopher Moore, Bethanne (Nelson) Wells, Heather (Mike) Bostick, George Andrew and Lucas Hammann, Kimberly Rogers, and Traci Spina, great-grandchildren; Kelli, Kyle, Kohlton, and Karlee Sine, Seth Moore, Emma and Elli Bostick, and sister Pauline Rudy, of Springfield.

Family to receive friends Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 12noon to 2pm at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel; where service will be held 2pm Thursday, with Pastor Wendell Hakala officiating.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Boor and the office staff, Dr. To and the staff at Eaglewood for their compassion and kindness.

George will be greatly missed by his family. In lieu of flowers gifts may be given in George's name to the Rockway Lutheran Church 3517 W. National Rd. Springfield, Oh 45504.
