Donald M. Hollingsworth


Donald M. Hollingsworth, 82, of Springfield, died Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus following a brief illness.

He was born in Bloomington, Ohio on April 8, 1926 the son of the late Arthur and Dicey Hollingsworth.

Don retired from WPAFB following 38 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Verda L. (Ellis) Hollingsworth; son and daughter-in-law, Jack J. and Rita M. Hollingsworth; a brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Janie Hollingsworth of Arizona; two granddaughters, Lisa (John) Thornton of Springfield and Beth (Lance) Clark of South Charleston; and three great grandchildren, Chase and Zane Thornton and Michelle Hamilton.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Roger Herrig of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

The family requests that there be no flowers. .
