Richard L. Gheen


Richard L. Gheen, 53, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away Monday September 8, 2008 at Community Hospital. He was born October 12, 1954 in Troy, Ohio the middle son of three boys to Ruth & Melvin Gheen of New Carlisle.

Rick is survived by his mother, Ruth; older brother, Dale & Kathy Gheen of Springfield, younger brother, David Gheen and fiancé Tiana Karns of New Carlisle; nephew, Daniel Gheen honorably serving abroad in the U.S. Navy, three nieces, Sarah Ruth Gheen of Syracuse, NY, Katy & Ron Trick Jr. of Springfield, Kari Gheen of New Carlisle; and life time best friend and bowling partner Dan Kinder of Springfield, special friend, Forest Hensley; in addition to numerous family members in Troy and many beloved friends everywhere.

He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin; grandparents, Henry and Sadie Bitzow, Frank and Esther Gheen, sister-in-law, Cathy Jo Gheen, and aunt, Mary Jo Little.

Rick never knew a stranger and always had a warm smile to offer everyone. He cared strongly for all who crossed his path. Rick, a loyal employee of Tac Industries and member of the North Hampton Community Church, was a huge fan of the OSU Buckeyes, and Cincinnati Reds. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones as well as his extended family in the area Special Olympics and bowling league. He never missed a Clark County Fair to see his nephew and nieces exhibits and had a passion for helping with the family cattle operations.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday September 12, 2008 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.
