Morten E. Gill


Morten E. Gill, 87, of Springfield passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center High Street Campus.

He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on November 8, 1920, the son of Archie B. and Janie C. (Mason) Gill.

Morten was a machinist working 30 years for Atlas Gear in Pitchin and retiring from the Lord Corporation with 10 years of service. He attended the New Apostolic Church and he loved working with his hands, especially woodworking.

Morten was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Everett and Floyd Gill; and niece Patsy Bradford.

His survivors include his wife Clarice A. (Brown) Gill, whom he married August 31, 1957; one daughter Loretta Huffman of Springfield; five sons Michael & Linda Gill, David & Alma Gill, and William J. & Donna Walk all of Springfield, Marion & Sherrie Gill of Buford, SC, and Christopher & Becky Gill of Enon; one sister Goldie Cox of Xenia; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nurses on the Progressive Care floor at the High St. Campus of the Springfield Regional Medical Center for their outstanding care.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, where services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Mark Jousf officiating.
