Alexa Layne Grigsby


Alexa Layne Grigsby, 29, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in University Hospital, Cleveland following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Springfield June 5, 1978. Alexa was a 1996 graduate of Southeastern High School, earned her Associates Degree from Clark State University and attended Middle Urbana Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart Daniel Ryan Grigsby, whom she married in 2002 and their three sons Xane Ryan, and twins Xaden Ryce and Xander Rane Grigsby. Also surviving are her father and step-mother Douglas E. and Marjy Smith of Springfield; her mother and step-father LuAnn (Ireland) and David Krause of Medina, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law Amanda and Robert Mills of South Charleston; grandmother Ruth Ann Ireland of Urbana; step-sister Robyn Ewing of Springfield; step-brother and sister-in-law Richard and Suzanne Antonaros of O'Fallen, Missouri; parents-in-law Oakley and Kay Grigsby of Pitchin, and Beverly and Johnny Roddy of South Solon; grandmothers-in-law Loretta Workman and Ann Grigsby; two brothers-in-law Bryan and his wife Abby Grigsby, and Zack Grigsby; sister-in-law Mollie Grigsby; nieces Rachel and Laney Mills and Mozie Grigsby; nephew Robbie Mills; friends who are like family Josh and Amy Rice and their daughter Cordelia of South Charleston.

The family will receive visitors Sunday from 3-7 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Charlotte Reed and Rev. Tony Everidge officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for the Grigsby children c/o "Alexa Grigsby Memorial Fund" to any Security National Bank.
