William Flack


William "Bill" Flack, 55, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio following a long illness. He was born May 8, 1953 in Springfield, the son of Russell and Ethel (Lakins) Flack.

Bill was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was previously employed for several years at Bobby Fisher Distributing Company. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets and also a member of the Springfield Machinist and Union Clubs. Bill had a passion and hobby for raising and flying homing pigeons which was passed on from his belated father Russ.

Survivors include his companion Mary Spencer of Chillicothe, Ohio, sons; William "Lil Billy" Flack Jr., of Springfield and Brian Flack of San Diego, California, step sons; Michael and Steve (Tony) Bailey of San Diego, California, grandsons; Dyron and Zachary Flack of Springfield and step granddaughter Dariann Bailey of Springfield, brothers; John (Pat) Flack of Jacksonville, Florida, and Carl Flack of Springfield, sisters; Nancy (Harry) Swartz of Crosby, Texas, and April Flack of Springfield, also several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Ethel, sister Carolyn Harris, brother Harold and nephew Shawn Michael Flack.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM with Pastor James Reed officiating.
