Virginia (Toews) Filson


Virginia (Toews) Filson, 83, of Springfield, died Wednesday November 21, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center.

Virginia was the daughter of William and Lula (Swartzbaugh) Toews born on February 29, 1924.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church for many years. Virginia graduated from Springfield High School in 1942 and Wittenberg University. She retired from teaching having taught at Warder Park, Frey and Simon Kenton. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Business Women's Association, Home City Chapter Eastern Star. Virginia was inducted into the Girl Scouts Hall of Fame.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ralph along with nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Elizabeth in 2003.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday November 30, 2007 in Ferncliff Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Christian, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to First Lutheran Church, 30 S. Wittenberg Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45502.

The family is being served by LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
