Melvin H. Franklin
Melvin H. Franklin, 81, of Springfield died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Oakwood Village.
He was born in Springfield, Ohio on October 6, 1926, the son of Milton K. and Lovenia M. (Murnahan) Franklin.
Melvin was a member of East High Street Church of Christ. He loved to go fishing and working on cars. Melvin was a heavy equipment operator working for Keifer Sand & Gravel in Enon for 23 years and Koering Road Division for 20 years. He was a loving, patient and quiet spoken father.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife Juanita Franklin; brother Marvin Franklin; granddaughter Melissa (Tink) Franklin; and sister Ruth Ann Westlake.
His survivors include three daughters and sons in law Sandra (Keith) Shumway of Dayton, Brenda (Randy) Vance of Indian Lake, and Linda (Ben) Thorpe of Cincinnati; one son and daughter in law Donald (Wanda) Franklin of Azle, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be Thursday from 6-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services will be Friday at 1:00 PM in the memorial home with Phil Grear officiating. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society or to East High Street Church of Christ.
