Nicia M. Esterline

Nicia M. Esterline, 50, of Springfield, died at 1:12 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2008, in her residence. She was born in Springfield on February 14, 1958, the daughter of Richard "Dick" and Gertrude "Trudy" (Taylor) Esterline.

She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Urbana University and her Master's Degree in Education from Marygrove College. She was a first grade teacher at Snowhill Elementary from 1993-2008. She devoted her life to her students and taking care of animals. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

In addition to her mother of Springfield, survivors include her sister, Deanne Taylor; very special niece and nephew, Kylie and Brendan; grandmother, Wilma Taylor; aunt and uncle, Betty and Bob Cawley; aunt, Carel Esterline; many cousins, family, friends and beloved dogs, Mikiah, Mandy, Coco and Sadie.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dick in 1981 and her uncle, John "Jack" in 2000.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League or your favorite charity.
