Walter Daniels


Walter Daniels, 94, of Springfield, went to be with our Lord March 17, 2009 at SRMC—High St. He was born February 18, 1915, in Johnson County, KY the son of James Daniels and Belle Zora Goble.

He was a dedicated father, husband, grandfather, friend, and Christian. He had a wonderful sense of humor, told wonderful historical stories, was an avid hunter, and enriched our lives with his presence. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. He retired from Atlas Cement Company, Fairborn, OH.

He is survived by 3 sons, Tommy Daniels, Decauter, TN (Mary), Clyde Daniels (Bonnie) of Donnelsville, Kelly Daniels (Phyllis) Pitchin, 3 daughters Emma Garnet Combs (James) of Fairborn, Delmarie Hill (Dewey) of Medway, and Peggy Hays (Dan) of Pitchin; 14 grandchildren, Joe, James E. (Buzz), Reba, David, Michael, Shannon, Annette, Doug, Tandy, Kimberly, Terry, Jeremy, Carissa, Christopher; and 21 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Flora (Wells) Daniels; a daughter Ella (Boblitt); his father and mother; 3 brothers, Bill, Roy, and Thermon; and 2 sisters, Alma, and Beulah; and numerous half brothers and sisters.

Friends and relatives may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Beavercreek Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1:30 p.m. with Bill Willoughby of the Park Layne First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery
