Richard G. Dunphy


Richard G. Dunphy, 78, of Springfield, died on Monday, July 2, 2007 in his residence. He was born on October 3, 1928 in South Portland, Maine the son of John T. and N. Bridgett (McLeod) Dunphy.

After graduating from South Portland High School he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was trained as an Air Traffic Controller. He started his career at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base and then transferred to the Dayton International Airport for over thirty years. He was a Real Estate Broker with Dunphy Real Estate, Inc. and owned and operated Dunphy Insurance Agency. He enjoyed the art of stained glass design and was an avid reader. Richard was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Yellow Springs Lion's Club.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Josephine (Ricciardi) Dunphy, four daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon and Michael Greitzer of Springfield; Gloria and Greg Wise of Troy, Michigan; Sheila and Dean Pallotta of Columbus; and Teresa Dunphy and Tommaso Gregor of Yellow Springs; five grandchildren: Kara and Patrick Greitzer, Jason and Alex Wise, and William Gregor, three nieces and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and six brothers. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:00 am in the St. Paul's Catholic Church, 308 Phillips St. Yellow Springs.

A gathering of family and friends will be held following the Mass from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul's Catholic Church.
