Ralph John Sandy Dover, Sr.


Ralph John Sandy Dover, Sr. was born July 9, 1927, in Springfield, Ohio to Bob L. and Maybelle (Chandler) Dover. Ralph had two sisters, Ella Mae (Long) and Bobbie Dell (Bell). He departed this life on September 6, 2008.

Ralph was united in holy matrimony with Phyllis Jean (Ross) Dover on July 16, 1948. From this union, they had five children and nine grandchildren.

Ralph was employed by International Harvester, where he retired after 30 years. In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed carpentry and was a collector of many things.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and sisters, Ella Mae and Bobbie Dell.

Ralph leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Ralph J.S. (Cheryl) Dover, Jr.; four daughters, Sandra Dover of Cleveland, Ohio; Cheryl A. Dover; Gail (Larry) Lash; and Carolyn Dover-Tyler all of Springfield, Ohio. Nine grandchildren: Shauna Dover of Columbus, Ohio; Keisha Lash of Cleveland, Ohio; Makia Dover of San Antonio, Texas; Loren Lash of Los Angeles, California; Edward Edwards, IV of Columbus, Ohio; Ralph J.S. Dover III of Springfield, Ohio; Alexandra Edwards of Cleveland, Ohio; Mallory Dover and Daniel Dover of Springfield, Ohio; a dear extended family member, Dr. Angela Emmons-Brule' of Mitchellville, MD. Special friends: Beulah Rae Fullen, Thomas Blake, Arthur Ball, Maria Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His life was full and blessed. His presence will surely be missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., at ROBERT C. HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 527 S. Center Street, Springfield, with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will follow Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Ferncliff Cemetery. /p>
