Raymond E. Dobie


Raymond E. Dobie, 86, of Springfield passed away Friday September 14, 2007.

He was born July 11, 1921 in Springfield, OH a son of Frank and Sylvia (Harris) Dobie. Raymond retired from International Harvester Co. where he was a member of Local 402 and held the position of Union Steward. He was a WWII Veteran in the U.S. Navy and the past Grand Chancellor of the state of Ohio Knights of Pythias and was a Golden Spur recipient. He was a member of the K of P Red Star Lodge 205, VFW Post 1031, Eagles 397, and Masons Anthony Lodge.

Raymond bowled for many years and was a member of the Clark Co. Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed football, baseball (Reds) and mostly his grand, great, and great-great grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 65 years Verna (Callicoat) Dobie; children, Paul "Ed" (Jan) Dobie of Springfield, Robert E. (Sheila) Dobie of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Dorothy) Dobie; sister, Charlotte Gilliam, Maude Couch; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Thomas Edward Dobie; two brothers, Robert and Roger Dobie; sister, Margaret Cash.

Visitation will be held 5-8pm Tuesday September 18, 2007 in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS Funeral Home, with Masonic Service at 6:30pm followed by K of P service at 7:30pm. Funeral service will be held 10am Wednesday September 19, 2007 in the funeral home. Interment in the Glen Haven Memorial Garden.
