Marilyn Ione Doughty


Marilyn Ione "Punny" Doughty, 82, of Springfield died July 23, 2008 in Heartland of Springfield Nursing Home.

She was born December 27, 1925 in Troy, Ohio the daughter of Walter Leroy and Maude (Hyer) Crouse.

Marilyn graduated from Troy High School where she helped, due to her love of dancing, start the REC. She then attended and graduated from Good Samaritan Nursing School in Dayton, Ohio thanks to the generosity of the Margaret Heywood Fund and the Cadet Air Corps. She went on to work as a public health nurse, and at the Ohio State University and Community Hospital. Without a doubt Marilyn made the best pies known to man, the rhubarb in particular, being otherworldly. She devoted her life to caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Springfield Club.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jay Doughty, brother Roy Crouse and former husband James A. Doughty. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Jon A. and Kimberly (Hiney) Doughty; a daughter Jane Fritts, all of Springfield; a sister Irene Matthews of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren Jason (Frankie) Doughty, Alex Doughty, Kate Doughty, Noah Doughty, Andrew Fritts, Audry Fritts, and Evan Fritts; great grandchildren Clay, Jayce and Jaylee; daughter-in-law Julia Blankenship and her children Travis and Amy; good friends Phyllis Favorite, Dee Tucker, Vera and Tom Mendenhall.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30-2:30 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM. with Pastor Jeffrey Lee officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County Public Library, PO Box 1080, Springfield, Ohio 45501.
