Leo J. "Babe" Drennen
Leo J. "Babe" Drennen, 90, of Springfield, died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Forest Glen Health Campus.
He was born in Springfield on November 1, 1917 the son of Leo G. and Cecelia A. (Fritz) Drennen.
He retired in 1983 from Globe Tool and Engineering, Dayton after 26 years of service. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 1031, American Legion Post 362, Amvets Post 25, Union Club and served with the U.S. Army 81st Infantry Division in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Cain) Drennen; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (Cramer) King of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Virginia) Drennen; sister, Rosemary Schneider all of Springfield; sister- in-law, Shirley Drennen of Chicago Heights, Illinois; grandchildren, Thomas DeWitt, Elizabeth (Larry) Dunson, Danny (Joyce) DeWitt, Greg Hart, Chris (Sara) DeWitt, Leslie (Bill) Hart-Davidson; great grandchildren, David (Katie) Kennedy, Dustin (Sherry) Kennedy, Megan Dunson, Jessica Dunson; three great great grandchildren, Taylor Kennedy, Lily Hart-Davidson and Michael Kennedy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Hart in 2005 and two brothers, Robert and James Drennen.
His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Conroy Funeral Home with Fr. Paul Hurst officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
