Lulu C. Donley


Lulu C. Donley, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Monday morning, July 21, 2008 at 6:00 a.m.

She was born in Ross County, Ohio on March 31, 1904 the daughter of Levi M. and Elizabeth (Burke) Crooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Donley in 1971, three sisters, and one brother. An infant sister and brother also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Minnich and grandson, Todd Minnich, all of Springfield. Also surviving is a sister, Florence Parker of South Vienna; nieces, Nancy (David) Klehm of Washington, Indiana and Edith Nelson of Chillicothe, Ohio; nephews, Loren (Susan) Parker of South Vienna, Richard (Sharon) Parker of Hartford City, Indiana, Rev. Don Crooks (Sally) of Pennsylvania, Lewis (Dee) Crooks of Arizona, and Bill Gravenkemper of Springfield; and her "grand dog", Rusty.

Lulu graduated from Twin (Bourneville) High School and Greenfield Business School. She retired as a bookkeeper from Oesterlen Children's Services in 1969. Lulu loved animals and received a plaque for her 25 years of volunteer service to the Animal Welfare League. She also volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels. She was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church for over seventy years, where she worked in the children's department. She also was an assistant teacher for the Cheerful Gleaner's Women's Class, belonged to the Merry Methodist Class, the Women's Society, the Ruth Circle, and the Francis Willard Unit of the W.C.T.U.

Lulu's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Sherri Blackwell officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
