Larry C. DeWitt


Larry C. DeWitt, 64, of Springfield died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday June 17, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center Fountain Blvd. Campus. He was born in Springfield on April 24, 1944 the son of Clifford and Goldie (Grashel) DeWitt.

He retired as a deputy sheriff in 1996 from the Clark County Sheriff's Department after sixteen years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.

Survivors include his wife of forty-three years Carol A. (Kidder); three children and spouse Kathy and Dennis Rizer, Chris DeWitt all of Springfield, Jeffrey DeWitt, Dayton, OH; seven grandchildren Denny, Drew, Tyler, Sydney, Devin, Brooklyn and Jovan; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Paula DeWitt; two sisters Judy Jones and Sandra Collins and sister-in-law Susan DeWitt all of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheri DeWitt in 1970, twin brother Garry C. in 1990 and father-in-law and mother-in-law Roy and Sally Kidder.

The family would like to thank all their neighbors and the staff at Mercy Medical Center and Dr. Pius Kurian, Dr. George Varghese and Dr. Sanju Varghese for the wonderful care and support they provided Larry during his illness.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the American Heart Association.
