Elsie Jane Dickerson


Elsie Jane Dickerson, 79, of South Charleston passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 in her residence surrounded with love and devotion from her family. She was born in Pitchin, Ohio on May 29, 1929, the daughter of Archie Wilson and Sarah Elsie (Peters) Myers.

Elsie graduated in 1947 from South Charleston High School. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, South Charleston and was a member of the Farm Bureau and the South Charleston Community Club. Elsie volunteered at Community Hospital for many years and was staunch supporter of the Clark County Jr. Fair Sales Committee. She and her husband Bob where committed to each other and two a lifetime partnership of working side by side on the family farm.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob R. Dickerson in 2006 after 59 years of marriage; her parents; four sisters and three brothers. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter Luanne Black; two sons Lynn (Deborah) Dickerson and Bruce Dickerson all of South Charleston; one sister Shirley Kittles of Springfield; grandchildren Damon (Heidi) Dickerson, Brian (Jennifer) Dickerson, Lyndsay (Travis) Bering, Lea (Mike) Henderson; Tonja (Joel) Wolf, Eli Black, Courtney Black, and Denver Black; great grandchildren John Robert Dickerson, Graham and Georgia Dickerson, Brandyn and Kailey Wolf, Lily Bering, Madelyn and Makayla Black; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Private services for the family will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday in the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home with Rev. Bill Reisenweaver and Pastor Bret Layton officiating. Entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions are requested in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Association, or Community-Mercy Hospice.
