William A. Cydrus, Jr.


William A. Cydrus, Jr., 81, of Latham, Ohio and formerly of Springfield passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Pike Community Hospital.

He was born September 29, 1926 in Springfield the son of William and Rosamae (Lockhart) Cydrus, Sr.

Mr. Cydrus served in the United States Army Medical Corps during WWII and served an additional five years in the Ohio National Guard.

He retired from Navistar with thirty-two years service and enjoyed working with his hands following retirement. He was a member of the Old Christian Union Church in Latham.

Survivors include his wife Naomi Rose (Beavers) Cydrus of Latham; two sons and daughters-in-law William A. and Patricia Cydrus III of Springfield, Philip Dale and Kathryn Cydrus of South Charleston; two daughters Debi L. Bartley and Rebecca Irene Delawder both of Springfield; five stepchildren and spouses Janet K. Smith of Bainbridge, Ohio, Steve and Lori Beekman, Phyllis and Jerry Smith, Katie and Randy Satterfield, Melissa and Mark Bakenhaster, all of Latham; two sisters Helen Wahlberg and Ruth Furrow of Springfield; eleven grandchildren Kendra (J.D.) Baugh, Jack (Mandy) Preston, Jr., Amanda (Joe) Baise, Casey (Holly) Preston, Billy (Ruth) Cydrus, Jeni (Brad) Dundon, Brad Cydrus, Tiffany Cydrus, Justin Cydrus, Robbie Cydrus and Timmy Delawder; ten great grandchildren Dylan, Joey, Josh, Hunter, Braidy, Kasey, Ashleigh, Hailey, Tehlor and Juliana; twelve step grandchildren; seventeen step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Gertrude "Sis" Cydrus;three brothers Roy, Bobby and Ronald Cydrus; four sisters Kat Hayes, Evelyn Leonard, Betty Cline and Phyllis Summers; and a great granddaughter Courtney Paige Cydrus.

The family will receive visitors Friday from 2-5 PM and Saturday from 9-11 AM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Aaron Satterfield officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Chapel Cemetery.
