Roger A. Curnutte


Roger A. Curnutte, age 62, of Urbana, passed away suddenly Sunday, April 5, 2009.

Roger is a 1964 graduate of North High School. He is a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1964 to 1971, awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Army National Guard in Urbana for 15 years and was the competitive shooting national champion. Roger was a life long member of FOP. He retired from the Urbana Police Department as Patrol Sgt. with 27 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed driving charter busses and his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Donna (Johnson) Curnutte; aunt, Ruth Swartzbaugh.

Survivors include his wife Barbara (Risden) Curnutte; daughter, Jodi Curnutte Eickemeyer (Becky Hall); son, Scott (Laurie) Curnutte; granddaughters, Bailey and Ashton Curnutte; step daughters, Jennifer Risden (Sheila Palmer), Jackie Risden; step grandsons, Matthew Palmer and Ethan Risden; aunt, Kathrine Green; sister, JoAnne (Dick) Hassler; nieces, Tamara Hassler and Trisha Ratliff; cousins, Bill and Harry (Barb) Green and special friends, Jeff (Wendy) Eggleston and family.

Family will receive friends 5:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in the JACKSON LYTLE & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 2425 N. Limestone St., Springfield where services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 10, 2009 with Rev. Tim West officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
