Robert Stanley Clingman


Robert Stanley Clingman, 83, of Springfield passed away at 5:40 AM Thursday, September 20, 2007.

He was born November 23, 1923 in Springfield the son of Adam and Gladys (Dailey) Clingman. Mr. Clingman graduated form Springfield High School in 1941 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He was attached to the 481st antiaircraft artillery battalion. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1945. Robert earned a pharmacy degree from Ohio State University and a commission as a 2nd Lt. USAF Reserve. He became a registered pharmacist and was employed by the Whitacre/Fuschino family for 40 years. Customers at the Lagonda Avenue pharmacy called him "Doc". He was a kind and gentle man with a beautiful smile. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved being with his family, traveling and visiting with many friends and relatives. He was an avid "Buckeye" football fan. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of the V. F. W. Post 1031.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Elsie (Vogel) Clingman, children; Randolf S. (Louise) Clingman, James A. Clingman, Alicia (William) Cooke, brothers; Lawrence and Richard L. (Gayle) Clingman; grandchildren; Holly (Bill) Kovaleski, Jeremy and Ian Cooke, Dustin (Chrisy) Sashoon, Myranda Clingman, great grandchildren; Steven, Savion, Scarlett, Camille, Seth, Marcus, Logan, brother in law Robert A. Carney and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Roger A. Herrig officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services in the church. Burial with military honors will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Salvation Army or the Clark County Board of MR/DD in Robert's memory and will be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHAN FUENRAL HOME.
