Robert L. Claar


Robert L. Claar, 87, of Springfield, died Tuesday morning, March 31, 2009 in Springfield Manor. He was born in Springfield on June 22, 1921 the son of Charles Lee and Mary Louella (Angel) Claar.

Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from Robertson Sign Company.

He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn McGinnis of Citrus Heights, California; two grandchildren, Maureen Schwebel and Michael McGinnis; a sister-in-law, Eva Claar of Tremont City; two nieces, Nancy and Ruth Ann; and dear friends, Pat and Adrian Bowen of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Raines; two brothers, Herschel and Ray Claar; and former spouse, Alice Claar.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Ferncliff Cemetery with Pastor James Christian officiating. The LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
