Robert F. Chadeayne
Robert F. Chadeayne, 82, of Springfield, died at 2:27 a.m., Friday, February 29, 2008 in the Ohio Masonic Home.
He was born September 10, 1925 in Cornwall, New York to Robert Osborn and Diana (Fleming) Chadeayne.
His military service began in 1943 during WW II as a machine gunner. When he returned home, Robert attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in economics. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant and attained the rank of Colonel having served in numerous locations around the world, including Vietnam. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a Full Colonel in 1979 after 33 years of service. He received numerous decorations and awards including, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European Theater Medal with four Battle Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal - Germany, National Defense Service Medal with one Battle Star, Vietnam Service Medal with four Battle Stars, Air Force Longevity Service Award with Palms for 30 years, Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Clasp, Combat Infantry Badge and Army Marksman Medal for Rifle and Machine Gun (1943).
He is survived by his spouse, Beverly (Reese); 4 children and spouses, Robert (Robin) Chadeayne, South Charleston, William (Lori) Chadeayne, Clermont, Florida, Donald (Mary) Chadeayne, Penney Farms, Florida and Diana (Michael) Zimmerman, Beavercreek; 5 grandchildren and spouse, Brittney, Robert, Nicholas (Brooke), Audrey and Andrew; one great grandson, Zion; mother and father-in-law, Cleland and Beatrice Reese.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
