Martin E. Cullen


Martin E. Cullen, 87, of Springfield, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in his residence.

He was born June 9, 1920 in Springfield, OH to Martin and Kathryn (Powers) Cullen.

Martin retired as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office in 1985 after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the National Association of Letter Carriers, former member of the Knights of Columbus #624 and was a WW 2 Army Air Corp Veteran.

He is survived by 4 children, Mary Ann Roberts, Elaine Hampton, Marty Cullen and Kathleen Cullen all of Springfield; 7 grandchildren, Amy, Lisa, Kristen and Megan Hampton, Colleen (Chris) Lytle, Carrie (Eric) Patton and Casey Cullen; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Walter Cullen; 2 sisters in law, Helen and Charlotte Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary L., in 2000, a son, David, in 1955 and a son in law, Dr. Edwin Roberts.

Friends may call in the Conroy Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
