Gary L. Cain


Gary L. Cain, 62, of Springfield, died Monday afternoon, February 9, 2009 in Kindred Healthcare, Dayton following a brief illness.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 10, 1946 the son of Paul Dwain and Mary Elberta (Neher) Cain.

Gary served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War serving two tours-one with the Third Engineers Battalion and the second with the Third Marine Air Wing and Sixty Third Helicopter Squadron. He spent thirteen months stateside in Quantico, Virginia as a rifle and pistol coach for Officers' Candidate School and the F.B.I. He retired from Delco Moraine in 1996 following 24 years of service. Gary worked as a fundraiser with the Miami Valley Burn Unit. He was a former member of Medway VFW 9684.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matthew Cain of Dayton and Sean and Elizabeth Cain of Springfield and a sister and brother-in-law, Patty and John Zeller of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patsy A. (Clark) Cain in 1996.

Gary's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jim Fannin officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
