Flora J. "Jane" Crews


Flora J. "Jane" Crews passed away peacefully December 1, 2007 after living with ovarian cancer for several years.

She was born in Coshocton County, Ohio on January 2, 1937, the daughter of Ira and Ana (Chapman) Gross.

Jane was a graduate of Warsaw High School and Clark State Community College. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. She worked for the federal government in Cincinnati, Schneider's Florist in Springfield and retired from Springfield City Schools in 1997. Jane enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time with her family and friends, biking, reading, computer projects and photography.

Jane is survived by her husband, Harold "Tom" Crews, whom she married August 11, 1957. Also surviving are three sons, Steve (Denise) Crews of Newark, Jim Crews of Mechanicsburg, Dan (Cheryl) Crews of West Liberty; grandchildren, Anthony Crews of Enon, Jessica Crews of Columbus, Mark Crews of Mechanicsburg, Alex Crews and Eleanor Crews of Newark, Riley Crews of West Liberty and great granddaughter, Olivia Crews of Enon. Brothers surviving are Fred (Joyce) Gross of Kent, Ohio and twin brother, Alfred (Beverly) Gross of Warsaw, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Louise Gross and Alice Gross of Coshocton, Ohio, Helen Gribbins of Bradfordsville, Kentucky and brother-in-law, Ken Crews of Cincinnati. In addition to her parents,

Jane was preceded in death by her brothers, Ira Gross, Roy Gross, Frank (Oma) Gross and Earl Gross.

The family would like to thank Dr. Singh and the very capable and caring staff at the Regional Cancer Center.

Memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Conroy Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Paul Price officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
