Ann P. Cooke
Ann P. Cooke, 58, of Springfield, died Wednesday morning, March 11, 2009 in The Ohio State University Medical Center.
She was born in Springfield on November 11, 1950 the daughter of the late Bernard F. "Ben" and Shirley Ann (Herman) Halk Sr.
She attended Illinois State University on a music scholarship and attended Wittenberg University as well. Ann worked at the Social Security Administration for 30 years and previously worked at the Springfield News Sun. She played as second violinist in the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for 31 years. Ann was a member of the Women's Town Club, Red Hat Society and the Animal Welfare League.
She is survived by her husband and companion of 32 years, David L. Cooke; a step-daughter, Teresa (Mark) Mattimore of Cincinnati; three brothers, Bernard F. "Frank" (Penny) Halk of Springfield, Brian C. (Brenda) Halk of New Carlisle, and Brett C. Halk of Springfield; two granddaughters, Zoe and Sophia Mattimore; and a niece, Kacie Halk.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Collins of First Apostolic Church, Dublin officiating.
Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
