Wilma Jean (Neanie) Butcher, 73, was carried to heaven on the wings of angels at 6:30pm on August 14, 2007 after years of failing health.

She was born in the coal mining town of Van Lear, Kentucky, on December 4, 1933. She graduated from Meade Memorial High School, in Johnson County, Kentucky and Mayo Vocational School. She then married her high school sweetheart Wilbur, on February 27, 1954. She was employed at WPAFB until her family came along, and she later retired from Harts Family Center in 1980. Her many hobbies included bowling, gardening, coaching softball, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. She loved watching the birds and wildlife in her back yard, and UK Wildcats Basketball. She attended Fellowship Christian Church until her health prevented it.

She leaves to cherish her memory Wilbur, her husband of 53 years; children Wilbur (Sue) Butcher III, of Wheatfield, Indiana, Vanessa Rice of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Pam (Bill) Hawes, Melodye Raster, Beverly "Joanie" (Tim) Evans, and Kevin Butcher; all of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Effie Spradlin, Paintsville, Kentucky; brother-in-law Phillip (Katherine) Butcher of Shelby, Ohio; nephew Dick Whitacre of South Charleston; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends. She is the last of her family, being preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6pm to 8pm Thursday in THE JONES KENNEY ZECHMAN Funeral Home. The funeral ceremony will be held at 2pm Friday in The Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Mausoleum. Her family would like to thank the ICU nurses at Community Hospital for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Lung Association.
