Wilbur E. Bennett


Wilbur E. "Web" Bennett, 83, of Springfield passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2008 in his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born November 22, 1924 in Jackson, Ohio, the son of William Joseph and Florence Mae (Trainor) Bennett.

Mr. Bennett retired from International Harvester in 1981 with 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country proudly during World War II.

Survivors include his five daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Mike Tincher, Marcia and Tom Bogard, Gloria and Pat Davis, Jane and Jeff Singleton and Loretta and Ralph Pamer; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Donna Bennett; his twin sister, Jean Thornburg; one brother, Don Bennett; ten grandchildren, Adam, Amaris (Corey), Austin, Rachel, Rebekah, Amanda, Matthew (Samantha), Eric, Jacob and Kyle; one great granddaughter, Sasha Strickland and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 48 years Hazel F. Bennett in December of 1998; sisters, Viola, Goldie, Betty, Gladys and Lydie and brothers, Woodrow, Carl and George.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with visitation hour one hour prior to the service in the Maiden Lane Church of God with Pastor Dan Fiorini officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors for Mr. Bennett.
