William D. Barnes


William (Bill) D. Barnes, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Springfield, Ohio.

He was born in Grafton, West Virginia on May 19, 1929.

Bill was the son of E. L. Barnes and Mildred M. Barnes (Bayley). He served three years in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict achieving the rank of Staff Sgt.. Bill's profession was in the computer industry and accounting field, serving Inland Homes, Wittenberg University, and retired from WPAFB in 1991. Post retirement, Bill volunteered at Clark Technical , Elderly United, and the VITA program.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty F. Barnes, three sons, Steven C. ( Victoria) and Jeffrey S. Barnes of Springfield and Bryan D. (Jan) Barnes of Mason, Ohio. Bill had seven grandchildren; Briana, Bradie, Jordan, Rebekah, Sarah, Ryan and was preceded in death by a grand daughter Alyson. Also surviving are four great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles L. Barnes of Decatur, Georgia and a sister Barbara Johnson of Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel on Friday, March 28, 2008 beginning at 2:00 pm with Pastor Beverly DeBord officiating.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans Administration, Springfield Chapter. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
