Velma L. Burba
Velma L. Burba, 75, of Springfield, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 in her residence.
She was born in Xenia, Ohio on April 11, 1933, the daughter of Howard and Sara (Speckman) Shope.
Velma retired from Mercy Medical Center as a clerk. She was a member of First United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Steve, Perry, Eddie, Lamar, and William Shope; and an infant sister.
Velma is survived by her husband Earl "Gene" Burba, whom she married March 30, 1952; two daughters Ginger and Melody Burba both of Dayton; one son William E. and Ilene Burba of Springfield; one sister Caroline Hathaway of Bull Shoals, Ark.; two brothers James and Mary Shope of Fairborn and Duane Shope of Dayton; two granddaughters Melanie and Anna.
A gathering of friends and family will be Sunday from 2-4 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, where services will be Monday at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff, doctors, and nurses from Hospice and the Springfield Regional Cancer Center for their exceptional care of Velma. Memorial contributions are requested to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center.
