Virginia A. Brown


Virginia A. "Ginny" (Petee) (Smith) Brown, 77, of Medway, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012.

Born December 12, 1934 to the late Amy E. (Hamilton) and Everett L. Petee in New Boston, Ohio.

Raised by her mother and step-father Lawrence "Beach" Beachdell, Ginny was a 1952 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, now part of the Miami Trace School District. An avid bowler, Ginny was very honored to be inducted into the Clark County Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994 at which time she had thirty years of service and in 2008 awarded Member Emerita. She served fifteen years on the Springfield District Woman's Bowling Association (SDWBA) board as a director and second vice-president. In 1987 Ginny, her husband and friends won the Ohio Eagles Mixed team event, she also won many SDWBA tournaments; 1974 singles, doubles and team events; 1976 team; and 1991 singles.

Ginny was also an accomplished pianist passing on her love of music to her children and grandchildren.

Survived by husband Dorris "Brownie" Brown, Mother-in-law Elaine Brown of Asa Creek, Ky; Children: Debbie (Greg) Krouskop, Medway; Cindy Brown Evans, Waynesville; Cindy (Jerry) Gracy, New Carlisle; Doug Smith, Boyne City, MI; Tim (Lori) Brown, New Carlisle; Karen Smith, Medway. Grandchildren: Matt and Amy Freels, Shannon and Brent Collins, Laura, Sarah and Catie Gracy, Brian, Will, Kirk and Kelsey Smith, Melissa and Matthew Brown and several great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Smith; Brother, Robert Petee; parents, maternal grandparents Armel and Roxie Hamilton; Father-in-law, Raymond Brown.

The family will receive family and friends Saturday, January 21 from noon to two (12-2pm) at TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2pm with Hospice Chaplin Randy Reed presiding. Internment immediately following at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45420 or charity of choice in memory of Ginny.
