Shirley E. Botkin


Shirley E. Botkin, 75, of Springfield left at 10:30 AM. Monday, February 16, 2009 to attend God's Church in Heaven. She was born October 28, 1933 in Ada, Ohio the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (Klingler) Young.

Shirley attended Ohio Northern University and graduated from Elkhart University with a Bachelor's Degree as a Dental Nurse. She came to Springfield in 1959 and worked as a Dental Assistant, was a Tour Director for AAA and was secretary for Donnel's Creek Church of the Brethren. Shirley was a longtime member of Maiden Lane Church of God.

She is survived by her husband Allan E. Botkin; five children Robin Edwards of Springfield, Randy Lee (Gitta) Edwards of Castle Rock, Colorado, Robert Lloyd (Melanie Ann) Edwards of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Botkin of Springfield and Lori (Richard) Cole of Plattsburg; one sister Susan (Roger) Rohrs of Wauseon, Ohio; eleven grandchildren Sarah (Tim) Riley, Christopher (Julie) Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Robert Charles (Sara) Edwards, Jamie Virginia (Bryan Robertson) Edwards, Aysia Elizabeth-Nichole Edwards, Madison Edwards, Ashley Roberts, Airman Elizabeth Cole (USAF), Glen Allen Cole and Rachel Cole; five great grandchildren Jackson Riley, Olivia Edwards, Brycen Robertson, Dominic Roberts and Alexi Roberts; several nieces and nephews; friends of 58 years Jerry and Jim Day and the "Circle of Friends."

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. McLin.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME and for one hour prior to services in church. Services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM. in the Maiden Lane Church of God with Rev. Mark A. Martin, Rev. Randy Spence, Rev. David Reames and Rev. Dan Fiorini officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community/Mercy Hospice.
