Richard Eugene Burks
Richard Eugene "Gene" Burks, 79, of Springifeld, departed this life on Sunday, August 24, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center East Campus. He was born January 10, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio a son of Andrew and Bertha (Moore) Burks.
Mr. Burks was a Labor Relations Representative for the Otis Elevator Company and he was a devoted member of the Original Church of God where he served as church deacon and treasurer and was Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Burks also served as National Treasurer of the Original Church of God.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted son, Michael L. Burks of Cordova, Tennessee; two daughters, Betty Jean Howard of Cleveland and Robin Crossley of Dayton; a sister, Mary K. Kennerly of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phylis Burks, three sons, Richard, Jr., Marvin and Robin Burks, a beloved nephew, Charles "Dickie" Robinson and a sister and several brothers.
Visitation for Mr. Burks will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Church of Jesus Family Worship Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the church with Elder Richard Roe, officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
