Mildred Ellen Blackburn

Mildred Ellen Blackburn, 88, of New Carlisle, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 28, 2009. She was born May 18, 1920, in New Carlisle, the daughter of the late Russel & Clara (Hoke) Huffman.

She was a life-long member of the New Carlisle Missionary Church.

She is survived by three sons: Neal (Barbara) Blackburn of Springfield, granddaughter, Sarah Blackburn; Roger (Mary) Blackburn of New Carlisle, granddaughters, Amy (Rob) Novellino of Tipp City, Lisa (Jason) Myers of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Darrel (Becki) Blackburn of Fairborn, Ohio, grandsons, Joshua Blackburn of Los Angeles, California, Joel (Heather) Blackburn of Cincinnati, Ohio, granddaughter, Dara Blackburn and great-granddaughter, Briley Blackburn of Fairborn; sisters, Miriam Huffman of New Carlisle, Reva (Victor) Batdorf of Covington, Ohio, Ruby (Claude) Hambrick of Waverly, Ohio; a brother, Edsel (Mary) Huffman of New Carlisle; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

We are convinced that her husband Richard, who died in 2003, welcomed her through the pearly gates! They had been married for nearly 53 years prior to his homegoing.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday March 6, 2009 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Missionary Church with her grandson-in-law Jason Myers and Rev. Richard McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.

Special thanks to the staff of Belle Manor Nursing Home who provided loving care since July 2007.
