James Daniel Bartley


James Daniel "Dan" Bartley, 59, of Springfield, died unexpectedly at 4:45 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, in Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio the son of Willis and Erma-Jean Bartley.

He was a 1967 graduate of Springfield North High School. He was employed at OTC Daihen in Tipp City, Ohio. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing with sons and grandkids. He enjoyed playing golf and played at Locust Hills in the VFW and South Charleston Leagues. He enjoyed high school and college football. His most beloved team was The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy A. (Roush); his mother; sons, Matt (Tami) of Xenia, John, Kyle (Kristy) and daughter, Danielle all of Springfield; sisters, Beckey (Mike) Burr of Woodland Park, Colorado and Nancy (Frank Dean) Bartley of Springfield; the loves of his life, grandchildren, Peyton and Paxton of Xenia and Kelli and Stephanie of Springfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willis, brother, David, maternal grandparents, Thomas and Wave Evans and paternal grandparents, John and Verna Bartley.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Burial will be in Medway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Limbs for Life Foundation, 5929 N. May, Suite 511, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112.
